We use computers and specialist software and real people (unfortunately computers can't do it all as some people have discovered to their cost) to analyze each horse and that analysis is very thorough. The factors we include are as follows:
- Breeding, to determine not only the class of the horse but also its optimum trip and going, this analysis continues throughout the horses career.
- Trainer, to determine trainer form, hot or cold and to spot the not so well known trainers who pop up in particular events with big priced winners. This analysis also includes distance traveled to a race and entries in a particular type of race which the trainer is not well known for.
- Jockey, to determine jockey strengths and weaknesses and also whether a particular jockey is booked to ride for a trainer or to ride a horse which would not normally be expected.
- Course, left or right handed, undulating or flat and also stiff or galloping track.
- Going and weather conditions, this requires no explanation. I'm sure we are all aware of what a change in going can do to the chances of any horse and because of the British weather and the fact we produce our results 18 hours before the race there is only so much we can do in this regard.
We recently changed the "methodology" that determines which horses go through the whole process and end up as tips in your inbox. This change was enacted on 1st June 2010 and has proved very successful.
